Privacy policy — The K-Beauty Plug browser extension

This policy covers the "The K-Beauty Plug — Price & Seller Check" browser extension. It is written to be read, not to be survived.
THE SHORT VERSION
The extension sends us the web address of the shopping page you are on, so we can look up whether we track that product. It does not read the page, does not know who you are, and does not follow you anywhere else.
WHAT WE RECEIVE
- The URL of the page you are viewing — but only on the shopping sites listed in the extension's description, and only those. On every other website the extension does nothing at all.
- An anonymous ID generated at random the first time you use the extension and stored on your own device. It is not linked to your name, your email, or any account. It exists so that a click can be connected to the lookup that preceded it, and so we do not count one person twice.
- Standard connection information that any website receives — your browser type and version. We do not store your IP address.
WHAT WE NEVER RECEIVE
- Your name, email address, or any account details
- Anything you type, including searches, logins, card details, or checkout information
- The contents of the page — the extension reads the address bar, not the page
- Your browsing on any site not listed in the extension's description
WHAT WE DO WITH IT
We use the page address to find the product in our catalog and return the other places that sell it. We record that a product was viewed and, if you click through, that a link to a particular retailer was followed. That tells us which products people are comparing, which is how we decide what to track next.
We do not sell this data. We do not run advertising. We do not share individual activity with brands or retailers — anything we publish or share is aggregated across everyone.
AFFILIATE LINKS
Some retailer links earn us a commission when you buy. Three commitments about that:
- It never changes your price. The commission comes out of the retailer's margin.
- It never changes the order. Sellers are listed cheapest first, always. We do not accept payment for placement or ranking, from anyone, ever.
- We show you sellers who pay us nothing, including ones we earn no commission from at all, whenever they are the better option.
The commission link is only applied when you click through. Nothing is applied in the background, and no existing referral is replaced.
HOW LONG WE KEEP IT
Lookup and click records are kept while they are useful for understanding demand. The anonymous ID on your device is removed if you uninstall the extension or clear its storage.
YOUR CHOICES
- Dismiss the panel with the × and it stays closed for the rest of your browsing session.
- Remove the extension at any time from chrome://extensions. That deletes the anonymous ID stored on your device.
- Ask us to delete your records by emailing hello@kbeautyplug.com. Include roughly when you used it so we can find the relevant records.
CHILDREN
The extension is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from them.
CHANGES
If this policy changes in a way that affects what we collect, we will update the date above and note the change in the extension's store listing.
