Korean skin care is shipping more product at a lower declared value

Imports rose 14.8% by value this year, while the declared value per kilogram fell by a fifth.

US imports of Korean skin care and other beauty preparations reached $877 million in January–July 2026, up 14.8% from $764 million a year earlier, according to US Census Bureau data at the 10-digit level.

Declared value per kilogram fell from $24.46 to $19.47. Taken together, that implies roughly 44% more weight shipped than a year earlier.

Korea now supplies 29.3% of this US import category by value.

The pattern fits a shift toward lower-priced products or larger formats. Customs data alone can't tell us which, so we treat it as a question to watch, not a conclusion.
